On Tuesday, June 23 I sat down with Ofra Nissani, owner of Boa Apparel. We had met the week prior at the Grand Opening of the newest instalment in the Boa Apparel franchise on Lakeshore Road East in Oakville, Ontario. The store was buzzing with excitement as word traveled to local fashionistas of this new boutique in Oakville, but at a price-point that is accessible for all. Intrigued by the business model, and the synergies in my short chat with Ofra, we exchanged contact information in the hopes of meeting to do an interview on Boa Apparel and the fraternal twins- Daphne, and Ofra behind it. The words were already forming in my head as I finalized my purchase at the register, and within two days I had cranked out an article on the franchise and opening week sale, which can be read by clicking here. There was still a yearning to uncover their secrets to success, and I felt compelled to learn more about the entrepreneurial sisters, and the factors that were instrumental in their accomplishments.

Daphne and Ofra grew up as first generation Canadians living in a large urban area. Both parents owned a number of small businesses throughout Daphne and Ofra’s formative years, some successful, others not. Her father was primarily employed as an Auctioneer, and also sold rugs from his native Iran. They also were involved in retail businesses, having owned a shoe store each at different times.
